Who are we?
Established in October 2006, the Head Tax Families Society of Canada, (formerly known as The BC Coalition of Head Tax Payers, Spouses and Descendants) was founded in response to the need for direct representation of head tax families in the pursue of an inclusive fair, just and honourable redress, following an unilaterally imposed settlement announced on June 22, 2006 by the Stephen Harper government.
The Society’s Manifests, supported by other Head Tax redress seeking groups across Canada, seeks an inclusive just and honourable redress by asking the Government of Canada to:
- Recognize and acknowledge redress is incomplete
- Commit to good faith negotiations with head tax families excluded from the June 22, 2006 settlement seeking direct redress
- Act in the spirit of one certificate, one claim
